We started Melvin Laboratory because the tools that were supposed to save us time made us type more, not less. Melvin is the assistant we wished we had — one that does the work, not just talks about it.
What we believe
The next decade of personal computing is not "ask a chatbot." It is "direct an agent." A good assistant should sit next to your apps, watch what you are doing, take voice or typed direction, and finish the task. The interface should fade.
Melvin is a step in that direction. It is opinionated about Mac because that is where we and most of our users actually do work. It is opinionated about local-first because shipping your screen to a server is not a tradeoff anyone should make for convenience.
Where we are
Melvin is preparing its first public beta for Apple silicon Macs. Windows and Intel Mac builds are not available today.
