What Melvin can do.
An honest catalog of what ships today. Melvin runs tasks on named Mac apps and in Chrome. Mail stays in drafts until you send. High-stakes actions ask first.
This page in Chrome
Stay on the open tab
Ask about “this page,” “these questions,” or “fill this out.” Melvin attaches to the frontmost Chrome tab with your real session — no navigate-away loop.
Fill forms and click through
Checkout, sign-up, contact, and application forms on the page you already have open. Prefers accessibility and structured signals before vision.
Extract and summarize
Pull text or structured bits from the page into a Note or a reply draft.
Broader browser work
Open a URL, search, and run multi-step flows when you name a destination — not only the current tab.
Mac apps
Search connected Gmail (read-only API), with Apple Mail and optional IMAP. Drafts by default; sending asks first.
Calendar
List events, find free time, create or move events. Invites that include other people ask first.
Notes, Reminders, Files
Read and write Notes, manage Reminders, find and save files by name or contents.
iMessage
Read recent threads. Sending a message asks first. WhatsApp is not supported.
Connected services (setup once)
Slack
After you paste a workspace user token under Settings → Your apps, Melvin can list channels, catch you up, and post. Posting asks first. No desktop-app fallback.
Google Docs
After you grant Docs access under Settings → Your apps, Melvin can find by title, read, append a section, or replace a named section. Writes ask first.
Until either is connected, Melvin says so and refuses — it will not guess at contents.
Safety
Drafts by default
Mail compose and reply leave drafts unless you explicitly send.
Confirms for high-stakes
Send mail or iMessage, post to Slack, delete files, spend money, invite others, destructive shell or git, overwrite an existing file, or fan out to many recipients — Melvin asks first.
Quiet on the rest
Reads, searches, unsent drafts, Notes, Reminders, and solo calendar events run without a prompt.
Local memory
Successful runs can leave local hints so similar asks reuse proven paths. You control privacy and wipe in Settings.
When one ask spans two places
Browser → Notes
Scrape or summarize a page, then drop the result into Notes in one ask. Melvin sequences the browser step and the Mac step.
Mac GUI without a rail
Rename or organize files in Finder and similar native UI work that has no dedicated API tool. Ordinary Mail, Calendar, and Messages still use their own rails.
Not supported / not claimed
WhatsApp is not supported. Melvin does not claim to drive every keyboard-reachable app, and Linear is not a first-class product rail.
Heavy canvas apps (Figma, Photoshop Web) and hard bot walls remain rough. If a site blocks automation, Melvin stops and asks you to finish the challenge in Chrome.
